On November 25, Jung Ho Yeon shared a series of behind-the-scenes photos from the 2024 MAMA Awards, where she was a presenter. The post showcased her journey, from waiting in the dressing room to standing just below the stage. Among the many comments and reactions, G-Dragon’s “like” stood out.

In a subsequent post, Jung Ho Yeon shared moments from her trip to Japan, including a visit to a local restaurant where she was feeding a child and exploring the city streets. G-Dragon once again liked the post.

The controversy began when G-Dragon liked both of these posts. Some malicious commenters speculated that G-Dragon might have known about Jung Ho Yeon and Lee Dong Hwi’s breakup before it was publicly reported on November 26.

The speculation stems from the fact that, although Jung Ho Yeon follows most of her close acquaintances, she does not follow G-Dragon. Additionally, G-Dragon had never liked her posts prior to these two related to MAMA.

Malicious commenters further questioned the timing, suggesting it was odd for G-Dragon to suddenly express admiration for Jung Ho Yeon’s posts years after her fame skyrocketed with “Squid Game” in 2021.

However, many netizens dismissed these baseless rumors and defended G-Dragon, commenting: “G-Dragon likes posts indiscriminately. It’s meaningless“, “He’s basically a ‘like bot’—there’s no hidden intention“, “If G-Dragon dated everyone whose posts he liked, he’d have to break up with multiple people every hour“, “They probably know each other and he just liked the posts after seeing her at MAMA. Simple as that“…

Meanwhile, news of Jung Ho Yeon and Lee Dong Hwi’s breakup was confirmed on November 26. Both agencies stated that the two had decided to part ways amicably and remain good colleagues.
